The Brigitte Hamann Prize will be awarded on the first Thursday after Easter (for the first time on 9 April 2026) with an audience of 200 invited guests from the worlds of science, art and culture, politics, business and society in the Coat of Arms Hall of Vienna City Hall.

Martin Haidinger has been working as a journalist for Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF Radio) (journals and news from the current affairs service, Wissen Aktuell, Dimensionen, Journal Panorama, Österreich 1 Extra: Zeitsprünge, Radiokolleg) and Deutschlandradio and Deutschlandfunk (Hintergrund Politik, DLF-Magazin) as well as for newspapers and magazines. From 2012 to 2014, the trained historian was the presenter of the TV discussion programme ‘Österreichs Universitäten’ (Austria’s Universities) on BR-Alpha. From January 2014, he produced programmes as part of the Ö1 science series Salzburger Nachtstudio. From August 2017 to February 2024, he also headed the editorial team for this series. Since the Ö1 programme reform in February 2024, he has been in charge of the successor format ‘Science Arena’, which includes the formats ‘Kontroversen der Wissenschaft’ (Controversies in Science) and ‘Science Show mit Professor Haidinger’ (Science Show with Professor Haidinger).
